    3. I did not find a Michael Crimmins in Jersey County in 1920. There is a 35 year old Michael Crimmins and his wife, Catherine, with two sons and three daughters in Chicago. Michael was born in Wisconsin. If this is your Crimmins let me know and I will copy all the information for you. Marianne

    3. I just want to thank everyone who helped in the typing of the newspaper articles. They have all been sent out now and I will start soon on the next batch. Most have been returned transcribed and looking good. Some are still out to be sent back. Please do not forget to send them directly back to me and not to the Historical Society. The email there doesn't get checked very often since I have become too ill to go there. Please remember to send them straight back to me @ [email protected] Thanks so very much for helping. Thanks Marty The Jersey County Historical Society http://www.618connect.com/~jchs/

    3. Sheri You said that you wrote to the clerk of courts for the naturalization records. You sent your request to the incorrect office. It should have been sent to the County Clerk's office. This information is from the Jersey County Historical Society's website - Jersey County Clerk PO Box 216 Jerseyville IL 62052 Debbi Geer __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. I am glad you asked this question. I have the same question about one of my ancestors Folkert . Gerdes who came I think in 1857 on ship Gerhard that arrived Nov. 6, 1857 in New Orleans and came on up the Mississippi to Alton and on up to various other ports. I found his intent to become a citizen and his naturalization papers in Menard Co. and they were of little real help other than to place him in this area Menard/Cass at a certain time, know that he renounced allegence to the King of Hannover which makes him from the Ostfriesland (North) area of Germany and to give the two witnesses as you mentioned. I have found no record of him from the time he arrived until he files intent in late 1860. He may have stopped along the River at some of the areas where there were German immigrants and worked to get money for land. I am wondering like you, if the witnesses can be a key.
