Rather than write to Debbi directly, I am replying to the list to benefit myself and perhaps others. Yes, I thought that this might be the case - but, a Robert Beaty, Jr had been appointed administrator when the original executor died within a year of the passing of James Nelson. His son James P. had been chosen originally. Robert Beaty, Jr. was the husband of Annie Nelson Beaty an heir (daughter). The names of Myers and Snyder appear right before the mention of "and the unknown heirs of the deceased John Nelson." I know that James Nelson, Sr. had a son John - so obviously John died before 1872 and the passing of his father. I'm suspecting John Nelson died not in Jersey Co. but at some distant place and perhaps well before this time - or the "unknown heirs" would surely have come forward etc. By 1874, the widow is living in Hillsboro - maybe Myers abd Snyder were tennants at the Jerseyville property? Is there a subscriber who can "id" Lee Snyder or Peter Myers as members of their family? They were mentioned in the estate papers of a James Nelson in 1874. The way that the mention is written they could possibly be heirs. I'm wondering how? James Nelson was living in , Jersey Co., IL at the time of his death in 1872. Sale of his property was to be held on the courthouse steps on 23 Dec 1874 - in the announcement for the sale - both of these gentlemen are mentioned following the known to me children of the deceased James Nelson. He also says that they came straight to Jersey Co IL. I don't know how much information he has or where he got it from, but the family history was submitted by Rodger L. Egelhoff who still lives in the Jerseyville area. You may want to locate him and discuss the Egelhoff family with him. The information was submitted for use in the 1991 Jersey Co IL history book. Hi, I'm hoping to make a trip to Jersey County on Saturday April 27 to do some family history research. Do I need an appointment at the Historical Society? Does anyone have information regarding Fieldon Cemetery? I need driving directions (from Jerseyville) and wonder if there is an office there I could contact. I'd really like to get a map of it or meet someone there who knows where graves are located. Thanks! Laura
I would make sure that they are open on Saturdays. I know they have certain hours and I don't know what they are. Sheri __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - online filing with TurboTax http://taxes.yahoo.com/
