Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ig.2ADI/826.1.1.1 Message Board Post: David, Here's the address for the courthouse; however, the clerk's office is across the street from it. I believe the clerk's office entryway faces Liberty Ave. You might want to call for precise directions; I was there in November, so don't recall the exact address. Jersey County Courthouse 201 W. Pearl St. Jerseyville, IL 62052-1675 Phone (618) 498-5571 The County Clerk has: Birth and Death records from 1878; Marriage and Land records from 1839; Divorce records from 1840; Probate records from 1850; Civil Court records from 1845. Also, if you're going to Jerseyville, it's well worth it to spend an hour or two at the Jersey County Historical Society. They have a lot of resources and are very helpful. Check out their web site for info at http://www.jvil.com/~jchs/ . Good luck, Laura

In their data base (1870)I even found a Louis Krueger listed in the Town of Richwood along with my great-great- greatgrandparents William & Dorthea Krause and my gg grandfather Charles. Also listed is a George, Henry, Mathilda & another William. The 1900 census shows a Louis living with a Harold, Walter, Emma, and Dorothy (my gg-grandmother) dwelling 94. Dwelling 168 lists my g-grandparents Charles & Elizabeth, my grandfather Freddie and his siblings, including aunt Kate who visited with our family for about 10 days about 50 years ago. Wunderle, 154 Ill. 577, 39 N.E. 623 (Ill. 1895) “The petition alleges that plaintiff in error, whose name was Veronica Wunderle, was born in the grand duchy of Baden, but that in 1874 she went to Basel, in Switzerland, and there, in 1875, she married Vinceus Schaefer, who was a citizen of Switzerland, and lived with him there until his death, in 1887. It furthermore appears from the petition that four years after her husband's death, and in March, 1891, she was in the grand duchy of Baden, with her brother Charles Wunderle, and there united with him in the execution of a power of attorney to the German consul at Chicago, authorizing said consul to assert and protect her rights in the estate of her deceased brother, Alexander Wunderle, in Jersey county, in this state[.] * * * “There appears in the original record on file here the copy of a certain parer, marked 'Exhibit A,' which purports to be a certificate dated October 23, 1893, and issued by the clerk of the senate of the city of Basel, to the effect that plaintiff in error, a widow, and born at Wallbach, in the grand duchy of Baden, was, with her late husband, admitted to the rights of a citizen of Basel in April, 1875. * * *"
