Does anyone have access to Tax records for Fidelity Village? I am wondering if the home of Jacob RODELL on State St. in the 1920 census is the same property that belonged to David JAYE in the 1850's to 1867. This house was very large and torn down in the 1960's. It occupied a corner lot on a NW corner. I do not know the cross street. We are trying to identify an old photo. Thank you so very much if you can help. Best Regards, Rae Bryant

Just in case, My aunt's sister was married to Prentiss D. Cheney from Jerseyville. It was a second marriage and I know that he had a son named Edward from lst marriage. P.D. passed away many years ago and my Aunt Edith (his 2nd wife) has also passed on.

I recall that Marty and others were going through the Alton newspapers and putting information about people into some form for research. Is Madison anywhere near Alton? If so, perhaps these researchers know if there has been any information on a Irma Yates in the newspaper. If not, is there a way to search through recent (last 5 years or so) of newspaper(s) for Madison to see if anything turns up on this lady? For those who are looking for a lost parent and when finding them discover they are ogres or worse, just remember some of us knew our parents all our lives and some of these parents were ogres or worse. The luck of the genealogical draw. Scratch beneath the surface and some of these ogres have wonderful redeeming qualities. We all do the best we can with what we have to work with. If the Erma Yates in Alhambra is married to Herb Yates then she is the wrong lady. Leo
Wanda Here are a few suggestions - 1) If you believe that the Irma Yates in Alhambra is the biological daughter of your adopted daughter, then why not check with some of the older residents in that area to see if she always lived there or moved in from another town. 2) If she was single and had a rural Edwardsville address, you might be able to find her photo in one of the Edwardsville Tiger yearbooks. By finding the year, you could probably locate one of the boys in the class to see who has been coordinating the class reunions and get an address from the committee. 3) Also consider the fact was she married or single at the time of the birth. If she was single then chances are Yates is not her current surname. So this will take you back a few steps in your search or refer to suggestion #2. 4) You could always do what they do in the movies - go to her house, get her to answer the door so that you can see her but ask for the name of another person who's house you're trying to find. Make up a story that it's been some years since you've been in the Alhambra area. If your adopted daughter resembles her, then it's probably her. If not, she still could be her biological mother but resembles her biological father or another member of either side of the family.
