    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ig.2ADI/1143.1.1 Message Board Post: There is a connection between the Darlingtons and my Andrews family in Jersey County. In the 1880 census an elderly Joe (Joseph) Andrews and his wife, Jane, list Mary Darlington, age 11 living with them and they refer to her as their daughter. At that time Joe was 70 and Jane was 60. This census is actually from Piasa in Macoupin county as the Andrews farms bridged both counties. Some years this family is listed in Jersey County and other years, Macoupin. In addition to this connection, there are a number of Darlingtons buried in Asbury cemetary on the old Andrews farm lands near Brighton. These burials are primarily in Block 3, lot 1 and include civil war veteran John W. Darlington (1840-1931), John Edward Darlington (1878-1938) and Mary Adelline Darlington (1847-1911) Hope this helps you.

Springfield, Ill.: Continental Historical Co., 1885 This book, a secondary source with information probably given by family, contains a brief bio of Samuel Darlington b Scioto Co. OH on 14 Aug 1827. In 1840 he came with his parents, Abishra and Eva (Cramer), to IL , locating on Section 21, Mississippi District, Jersey Co. His father was b PA 1785 and died here in 1851. His mother was b PA in 1790 and died at home in 1849. They are both buried on the home place. The interesting thing about this is that in the 1860 census of Miss. Dist., Jersey Co., this Samuel Darlington 33 b OH is on the same page as Andrew and Margaret Gillham (she 36 b OH), separated by only two households - and next door on the other side is a Henry Darlington 42 (b OH). IN 1870, Margaret Gillham is listed with her children, in New Bern, about 4 pages from Samuel Darlington, also in New Bern. Abisha is listed in Jeffereson Twp., Scioto Co OH in the 1820 census, online, with several young children, male and female. He is listed next to Henry Creamer, Sr. Have you tried the 1850 census? I have no index for it.

    3. I went to grade school in the 7 & 8 grades. I graduated in 1956. We had lunch and commencement at the school west of the tracks on the south side of the road. When I was back there almost 2 years ago, there was no grade school left. I had Mr."Sagebrush" Wolk as a teacher. Did you go there about tha same time? Richard E. I need pictures of any of the old camp revival meetings in the three counties. I would also need any flyers that you may have. Also, but not last, does anyone have a picture of the church that used to stand in old Kane. The best fire and brimstone sermon I had ever heard was there when I was a child in the late 50's I think. I don't recall what the preachers name was but he was a pistol. Marty Crull www.tri-countynews.net or http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilcalhou/
