Edward Percy Atkinson, 88, of the Horse Creek community of rural Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:41 P.M. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton, Illinois.  He was born on Saturday, July 4, 1925 in the Horse Creek community of rural Mount Vernon, Illinois to Emery Pearl Atkinson & Hallie Winifred (Moore) Atkinson.  He married Pauline Kinison on December 31, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas and she preceded him in death on April 2, 2005. Percy is survived by his son:  Michael B. Atkinson and wife Sherry of Stuart, Florida, daughter:  Pamela S. Chadbourne and husband Scott of Mount Vernon, Illinois, five grandchildren:  Laura Michelle Schaefer and husband Andres of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Seth Woodland Atkinson of Phoenix, Arizona; Terra Kathleen; Tuttle; and Micah Atkinson of Charlotte, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.   Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Brother Don Atkinson and Reverend Bud Storey officiating. INTERMENT: will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Members of the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct Full Military Honors at the cemetery. VISITATION: will be from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois MORNING VISITATION: 9 to Service Time 10:00 A.M.
