Cort Edward Harrison, 32, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:42 A.M. on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Cort was born on Sunday, July 26, 1981 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the son of Larry and Jeanie (Hawkins) Harrison.  Surviving family members include his parents: Larry and Jeanie Harrison of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; grandmother: Gretta Harrison of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 sisters: Shana Poole and husband Shawn of Opdyke, Illinois and Kara Harrison of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 nephews: Kaleb and Eddie Poole and Evan Harrison.  His grandpa: Edward Dwight Harrison, grandparents: Clifford and Lois Hawkins and aunt: Judy Wagner preceded him in death.   Cort worked as the back-up cook for Cracker Barrel in Mt. Vernon where he was voted "Cook of the Year" by the Mt. Vernon Register News. He loved to drag racing and was an avid NFL Football fan. His parents, sisters, and nephews were the loves of his life.   FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Bud Storey will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Wolf Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
