Oleva Louise “Sally” Carter, 77, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois left this earth with her angels enroute to heaven at 7:20 A.M. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at White Oak Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Sally was born on Monday, February 17, 1936 in Wolf Lake, Illinois the daughter of the late Ernest Leonard and Nora Louise (Kelso) Palmer. Surviving family members include her 2 daughters: Debbie Lemay and husband Steve of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Danara Warrington and husband Frank of St. Charles, Missouri; son: Doug Carter and Donna Pierce of Bonnie, Illinois; 6 grandchildren: Chad Michael Carter and wife Jessica of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Ashley Kay Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Bryan Carter of Benton, Illinois and Brittany Carter of Benton, Illinois, Amber Phillips and husband Josh and Ashley Velarde and husband Julian; great grandchildren: Caleb, Brooklyn, Bailey, Brodie, Madyson, Makenna and Liam; 2 brothers: Leonard Leon Palmer of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Cletus Walter Palmer of Wolf Lake, Illinois; truly best friends: Cathy Wilson and Debbie Swarts several nieces and nephews also survive. Her father preceded her in death. Sally was a custodian at Ramada Inn in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and was also a waitress at various restaurants in the Mt. Vernon area. In her work and thru retirement, Sally enjoyed sharing with her many friends and acquaintances life's experience. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri. INTERMENT: Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
