Vera Toombs 89-year-old Fairfield resident, Vera Toombs died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, August 5 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. She had worked at the Fairfield Garment Factory for 30 years, then three years at  Wal-Mart. Survivors include daughters, Ruth Craig of Calhoun, IL, Charlotte and Sue Dye of Fairfield and Donna Wheeler of Mount Vernon, IL; sons, Larry Locke of Wayne City, Mike Locke and Darrell Toombs, both of Fairfield; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services for Vera Toombs will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 9 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 Thursday evening, August 8 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.
