Dennis O’Neal, 55, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:06 P.M. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Dennis was born on Thursday, March 6, 1958 in Marion, Illinois the son of George J. and Lila (Yandell) O’Neal.  He was married to Teresa True. Surviving family members include his mother: Lila Thompson of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 6 children: Joshua O’Neal and wife Denise of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Lucas O’Neal of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Ethan O’Neal and wife Marissa of Whiteman A.F.B., Knob Noster, Missouri, Cody O’Neal of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, twins: Gabriel O’Neal of Woodlawn, Illinois and Alexandra O’Neal of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren: Joshua, Raegan, Isaac, Jacob, and Addisyn (and Aubrey, another granddaughter expected soon).; brother: Sam O’Neal of Jonesboro, Illinois; sister: Kathy O’Neal of Benton, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. His father preceded him in death.    Dennis was an underground coal miner at Gateway Mine in Coulterville, Illinois and was a member of Summersville Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.               FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Don Verhines will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Wise-Robinson Cemetery in Ozark, Illinois. INTERMENT: Wise-Robinson Cemetery in Ozark, Illinois.
