Freddy DeJesus, 72, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 12:05 A.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Freddy was born on Tuesday, November 12, 1940 in Puerto Rico the son of the late Juan and Rosario (Pagan) DeJesus.  He married Esther Bateman on December 10, 1987 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Surviving family members include his wife: Esther DeJesus of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; daughter: Patricia Fields of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: William Fields of Dix, Illinois; 4 grandchildren: William Fields, Jr., Amy Meeks, Cornia Dawn and Richard William Taylor; 4 great grandchildren: Marc Meeks, Natalie Warren, Liam Avery Fields and Irie Fields; brother: Carlos DeJesus of Florida; 3 sisters: Mary Mazo of Palm Springs, Florida, Judy DeJesus and Meta DeJesus both of New York; several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents and one daughter: Regina Fields preceded him in death.   Freddy was a Vietnam War Veteran, was a welder, was a janitor at the Mt. Vernon Christian School in Mt. Vernon and was a school bus monitor.   FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Tim Reynolds and Reverend Ron Reynolds will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
