Allen L. Dempsey, 70, of Woodlawn, Illinois passed away at 7:05 P.M. on Monday, September 2, 2013 at his farm in Woodlawn, Illinois. Allen was born on Sunday, May 30, 1943 in Pinckneyville, Illinois the son of the late Jesse A. and Wilma (Simons) Dempsey.  He married Joyce Brieseacher in August of 1973.  Surviving family members include his wife: Joyce Dempsey of Woodlawn, Illinois; son: Jeff Dempsey and wife Jan of Pride, Louisiana; 3 daughters: Lori Rose and husband Bill of Christopher, Illinois, Jaymi Wellen and husband Dewain of Dahlgren, Illinois and Micah Bailey and husband Jimmy of Woodlawn, Illinois; 10 grandchildren: Austen and Kylee Dempsey, Lane, Allee and Jayce Wellen, Lexi, Cohlton and Cheyenne Bailey. His parents, one brother: Donnie Dempsey and grandson: Braedin Sandy preceded him in death   Allen worked as a local delivery driver for A.C. Trucking out of St. Louis, Missouri.    GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Tracy Thomas will officiate. VISITATION: In honor of Allen's wishes no public visitation will be held. INTERMENT: Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
