Mary Lucille Baltzell, 91, of Salem, Illinois, formerly of Mount Vernon went to her Heavenly home at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem, Illinois. She was born on Tuesday, November 22, 1921 in Belle Rive, Illinois to Elvis & Mary Delphia (Lawrence) Moore. She married Durward D. Baltzell on December 20, 1942 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He preceded her in death September 10, 1993. Mary is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Ann Coleman & husband Jim of Oak Forest, Illinois; Nancy Peterson & husband Thomas of Salem, Illinois; and Mary Jane Sursa & husband Tom of Dix, Illinois, eight grandchildren: Steve Peterson and wife Valarie of West Point, Illinois; Joyce Murphy and husband Mike of Salem, Illinois; DonThomas Peterson and wife Cindy of Grazelake, Illinois; Jim Coleman and wife Jenny of Monee, Illinois; Stephanie Meyer and husband Shane of Redmond, Washington; Rob Coleman of Oak Forest, Illinois; Mary Dawn Sursa of Moore, Oklahoma; and Wade Sursa and wife Katie of Moore, Oklahoma, brother: Charles Moore and wife Kitty Alberta of Charlottesville, Virginia, twelve great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her parents, husband: Durward Baltzell, and two brothers: George Frank Moore and Edward A. Moore preceded her in death. Mary worked as a seamstress for several locations and later worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital where she retired. She was also involved in volunteer work for the Red Cross. She enjoyed working in genealogy, sewing, and loved to travel. She was a member of First Church of God in Mount Vernon, Illinois. During her church membership she served as President of the Ladies Missionary Society WCG of which she was a lifetime member. TIME/DATE/PLACE OF SERVICE: Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at First Church of God in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Jack Harper officiating. INTERMENT: will follow services at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois VISITATION: will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
