Robert Ray “Bobby” Lane, 71, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 1:44 P.M. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Bobby was born on Tuesday, September 2, 1941 in Waltonville, Illinois the son of the late Virgil and Lela G. (Green) Lane. He married Ann Hartwig in 1962 in Chicago, Illinois and she preceded him in death in March 1990. Surviving family members include his daughter: Anita Gorsuch of Kenosha, Wisconsin; son: Brian Lane of Round Lake, Illinois; grandchildren: Donald Springer of Salem, Wisconsin, James Kubisiak of Hales Corner, Wisconsin and Wayne Husko of Lindenhurst, Illinois; several cousins also survive including Harry Green of Waltonville, Illinois, Harriet Rathe of Waltonville, Illinois and Connie Pritchard of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. His parents, a stepsister: Kathryn Rainey, an infant brother, seven uncles and two aunts preceded him in death. Bobby was a machinist for Illinois Tool Works. He was a multi-instrumentalist very active in the Chicago music scene and made many friends including Minnie Pearl, Salty Holmes and many more. His parents were very proud of his musical abilities and he was of the Catholic faith. SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois. Mr. Lane will be cremated and there will be no visitation held.
