VIENNA - Norman Newcomb, 67, of Benton, Ky., died at 11:10 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at his home. He was a member of the VFW and Disabled American Veterans. He was a Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Army. He worked formerly as a correctional officer in Vienna. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ann Harris Newcomb; his sons, Ivan Lee Newcomb of Benton, Ky., Larry Newcomb of Greensboro, N.C. and Nelson James Newcomb and wife, Aida, of Great Lakes; his daughters, Kemberly Sego and husband, Jarrod, of Benton, Ky., Penny Sue Husher of Paducah, Ky. and Patricya Stevens of Benton, Ky.; two brothers, Larry Newcomb and wife, Cindy, of Robinson and Jimmy Newcomb and wife, Linda, of Antioch; his sister, Shirley Bourland and husband, Frank, of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Amanda Newcomb, Samantha Newcomb, Sabrina Newcomb, Nelson Newcomb, Colton Husher, Matthew Husher, Jamie York, Josh Phillips, Dusty Phillips and Laken Collins; great-grandchild, Aiden York and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Edith M. Newcomb; his parents, Ivan J. Newcomb and Bonnie Mae Riddle Newcomb. Services with military rites will be at 1 p.m. today in Hopewell Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Filbeck-Cann and King Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
