MOUNT VERNON - Charles "Chuck" Tuggle, formerly of Goreville, 91, passed away at 7:30 a.m. July 12, 2013, in Mount Vernon Health Care. Charles was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Carmi to Lee Vincent and Tamsey (Buttry) Tuggle. He married Brenda Murphy on Oct. 5, 1991. She survives of Dix. Together they shared 21 wonderful years of marriage. Mr. Tuggle was a retired salesman. He was a devoted Christian and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Tuggle of Dix; stepdaughter, Leslie and Eric Williams of Texico; stepson, William J. Staley of Texico; stepson, James S. Reeves of Carbondale; sister, Katherine and Ted Mitchell of McLeansboro; 12 stepgrandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Tuggle; daughter, Judy Tuggle; six brothers, Vilo, Monroe, Joe, Nick, George and Chalen Tuggle. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 15, in Herrin City Cemetery, with the Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Military rites will be performed.
