Grace L. Hampton Blindauer, 77, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 10:25 P.M. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Grace was born on Saturday, February 8, 1936 in Jefferson County, Illinois the daughter of the late Ray Frank and Mary Belle (Kirk) Capps. She married Gerald Hampton on March 20, 1954 and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1979. She married Robert W. “Bob” Blindauer on October 18, 1986 at Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1991. Surviving family members include her 2 sons: David Hampton and wife Paula of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Mark Hampton and wife Kim of Greenbrier, Tennessee; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer Poole of Greenbrier, Tennessee, Chad Hampton of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Jody Mack and husband Jarad of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Adam Hampton and wife Marcie of Springfield, Tennessee, Doug Hampton of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Laura Hampton of Greenbrier, Tennessee; 2 brothers: Jack Capps and wife Charlotte of Atkinson, Illinois and Albert Capps and wife Phyllis of Huntsville, Alabama; 2 sisters: Nina Wheeler and Mary Lemay both of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 4 sisters-in-law: Mary Capps of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Katherine Irvin and husband Howard of Dahlgren, Illinois, Sue Widicus and husband Rev. Paul Widicus of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Janice Hampton of Belleville, Illinois; brother-in-law: John Hampton and wife Barbara of Bluford, Illinois; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive including Angie Capps. His parents, both husbands, two infant siblings: Ruth and Raymond, three brothers: Roy, Burel and Charles Capps and one sister: Virginia Boykin preceded her in death. Grace was a homemaker and a member of Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Roland Sledge will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: West Salem Cemetery in Mt.
