Myrna Louise Armstrong, 97, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 12:05 A.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Mt. Vernon, Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Myrna was born on Monday, January 24, 1916 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of the late Hiram and Mayme (Kern) Plummer.  She married Leslie Brown Armstrong on August 8, 1938 in Ziegler, Illinois and he preceded her in death on September 8, 1982. Surviving family members include her son: William Leslie “Bill” Armstrong and wife Cynthia of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 grandsons: Chad William Armstrong and wife Shawna of Dix, Illinois and Brent Leslie Armstrong and wife Jamie of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 great grandsons: Nolan and Logan Armstrong of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.    Myrna owned and operated Bon Ton Beauty Shop in Mt. Vernon for over 50 years; she was Past President of Artistic Cosmetology Association, was Past Matron of Jefferson Chapter - Order of the Eastern Star 688 in Opdyke, Illinois, was Past Royal Matron - Faith Court #28 Order of Amaranth, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon and the Wesleyan Service Women of the church.   FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Annelle Ruemmler and Dr. Billy Hahs will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Opdyke Cemetery in Opdyke, Illinois.
