Kathy Klapman Kennedy, 48, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 4:12 P.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Mount Vernon Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  She was born on Sunday, July 11, 1965 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to parents, Joel Simon and Dora Ruth (Odum) Klapman.  She married Paul Kennedy on March 4, 1988 in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on October 13, 2003. Kathy is survived by her Daughter:  Natasha Kennedy of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Son:  River Kennedy of Mount Vernon, Illinois; two Grandchildren:  Sophia Pautler and Lilyen Kennedy of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Brother:  Stuart Klapman of Tucson, Arizona; Sister:  Bette Cohen of Chicago, Illinois; Father-in-Law:  Ishmeal Kennedy of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Brother-in-Law:  Eric Kennedy of Mount Vernon; two Nieces:  Deidre Hailey of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Kris Steward of New Mexico; Nephew:  Kerry Stewart of Mount Vernon, Illinois; three Great Nieces:  Amber Shehorn and husband Jasen of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Brandy Vinson of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Candace Reid and husband Eric of Richview, Illinois; three Great-Great Nieces and Nephews:  Chad Eskew of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Raylene Keen of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Rexton Reid of Richview, Illinois. Her parents, one son: Joel Tyler Kennedy, one brother: Robert Hailey, one sister: Barbara Stewart, and one nephew: Rex Vinson preceded her in death.   Kathy was employed as a Clerk at the Fairfield Inn in Mount Vernon and was a member of the Mount Vernon Elks Club #819. Private Memorial Service for Family and Friends: will be held at 6:30 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2013 at Mount Vernon Elks Club #819. In honor of Kathy's wishes no visitation will be held and she will be cremated. INURNMENT: will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois at a later date.
