Ruby M. Clifton, 100, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:15 A.M. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Residential Living Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Ruby was born on Tuesday, February 11, 1913 in Dahlgren, Illinois the daughter of the late Mosie E. and Mable M. (Hook) Scrivner.  She married Herbert E. Wilkerson and he preceded her in death.  She married Howard J. Clifton on April 28, 1954 in Olney, Illinois and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2002. Surviving family members include her 2 daughters: Myrna Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Armentha Jones and husband Richard of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 4 grandchildren: Renee Maddison and husband Doug of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Brent Jones and wife Kellie of Sammamish, Washington, Tracy Maxedon and husband Glen of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Michael Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 4 great grandchildren: Angela Muir and husband Matt of Kansas City, Missouri, Andrew Manis of Nashville, Tennessee, Molly Rodgers of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Ashley Sweetin and husband Matt of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 5 great great grandchildren: Allie, Jaxon and Megan Sweetin of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Max and June Muir of Kansas City, Missouri; stepson: Howard Gene Clifton and wife Celeste of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 step grandchildren: Scott Clifton and wife Pam of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Mary Jane Richard and husband James of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 5 step great grandchildren: Ashley Paige and husband Benjamin, Elisabeth Clifton, David Clifton, Tyler Weston and Nicole Richard; step daughter-in-law: Donna Clifton of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister: Clara Behrens of Sandwich, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, both husbands, one brother: Vernon Scrivner and one sister: Vivian Anderson preceded her in death.    Ruby was a homemaker and member of Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois   FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Marty Mills will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 12:30 P.M. until service time 1:30 P.M. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Williams Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
