Shirley Jane (Hatchett) Strickland, 75, of Nashville, Illinois passed away at 6:16 P.M. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Shirley was born on Tuesday, August 16, 1938 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the daughter of the late John Wesley and Stella Mae (Arnold) Hatchett.  Surviving family members include her son: Todd Strickland of Nashville, Illinois; 2 sisters: Joyce Hall of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Betty Hatchett Keller and husband Chuck of Valier, Illinois; brother: Douglas Hatchett of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; 3 granddaughters: Brittney, Megan Jane and Jade; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, sister: Helen Bebe Hatchett, and three brothers: John Donald Hatchett, Jerry Hatchett and Allen Hatchett preceded her in death.    Shirley worked as a Certified Psychiatric Technician for the State Hospital in Norwalk, California. She was of the Christian faith and was an avid Elvis Presley fan.   FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. In honor of Shirley's wishes she will be cremated following services. Reverend Ray Conley will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5:00 to service time at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
