Donald "Don" Eugene Smith, age 82, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Kings Mountain Hospice House in North Carolina.Born on Jan. 8, 1931, in Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Glen Dare and Lula Tate Smith.Don is survived by his wife, Sue Winchester Smith; a son, Stephen Eugene Smith and wife Jeannie of Forest City, N.C.; a daughter, Suzanne Smith Ragin and husband Jay of Clinton, S.C.; a brother, J. Delbert Smith and wife Nancy of Woodlawn; and four grandchildren, Anna Ragin, Luke Ragin, Alex Tillman and Katie Tillman.The family request no flowers but that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 120 N. Layfayette St., Shelby, N.C., 28150, or Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150.Cecil M. Barton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family of Mr. Smith.
