    3. NOTE: This is the obituary for the son & wife of the Robert Phillips whose obit I just posted. Dr. Robert Phillips Sulcer Jr. Sulcer Jr., Dr. Robert Phillips, 44, of New York City, passed away May 10 in the Plantation home of his parents, Robert Phillips Sulcer, Sr. and the late Jean Baker Sulcer, after a 14-month battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by family until the end. Robby was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. He earned a BA from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and an MA and PhD in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin before embarking on a career as a teacher and scholar. In 2001, he joined the Department of English faculty at Hofstra University in Long Island, NY, where he became a tenured professor. Robby will be remembered by his family and friends for his abiding love and devotion; by his students and colleagues for his brilliance, energy, and passion; and by all who knew him for his incomparable wit and charm. In addition to his beloved father, he is survived by his adoring sisters, Jo Ann Sulcer of Atlanta and Carol Lynn Nau of Phoenix; and his loving nieces, Allison and Caitlin Nau of Phoenix and Caroline Miller of Atlanta. Lauderdale, FL on May 13, 2012 =========== Jean Baker Sulcer Sulcer, Jean Baker, 72, of Plantation, passed away in her home on April 3, 2004, surrounded by her family. She was born in Ft. Pierce, FL on March 21, 1932 to George F. and Dorothy (Cahow) Baker, who preceded her in death. After receiving a college degree, Mrs. Sulcer worked as a secretary for many years, most recently for the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. Jean will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her kindness to all. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert P. Sulcer; her loving children, Jo Ann Sulcer of Atlanta, GA, Carol Lynn Nau of Las Vegas, NV, and Robert P. Sulcer, Jr. of New York City; and her precious grandchildren Allison and Caitlin Nau of Las Vegas and Caroline Miller of Atlanta. The family gratefully acknowledges the compassion of Hospice Care of Southeast Florida, Inc.
