The Mt. Vernon Register-News, Saturday, October 2, 1971 Oscar Dixon Mt. Vernon Oscar Dixon, 88, 216 Casey, Mt. Vernon, died at 1:55 a.m. today at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born in Grayson county, Texas, on Jan. 23, 1883, the son of Elijah and Adeila (Smith) Dixon. He was married to Lillian Bean. Mr. Dixon was a retired mechanic. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1.00 p.m. at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home, with Rev. Frank Tittle officiating. Burial will be in West Salem cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Dixon is survived by one son, Loren Dixon, Mt. Vernon; three daughters. Mrs. Sadie Morgan and Mrs. Pauline Dunavan, both of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Marie. Craley, Granite City; 18 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Dixon, Mt. Vernon, and James Dixon, Ottawa; and two sisters, Mrs. Altha Bullock and Mrs. Sarah Shane, both of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by three sons and his wife.
