A longer obit posted in the Mt. Vernon Register-News, July 5, 2014: The Rev. Edward “Eddie” Hale, 65, of Bonnie, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born on Oct. 20, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, the son of the Rev. Bertrum and Ruth (Phillips) Hale. He married Patty (Howard) on April 29, 1967, at the Bonnie Baptist Church and she survives. He was the pastor of Bluford Church of God for the last 11 years. He was an avid FastPitch softball player. He was a Cardinals fan. He worked for Sturdi-Built for 45 Years. He is survived by his wife, Patty Hale of Bonnie; son, Tony Hale of Bonnie; daughter, KayCee Hale of Bonnie; special family friend, Melanie Burke of Bonnie; mother, Ruth Hale of Benton; brother, Leland Hale and wife Mary of Harco; sisters, Teresa Bolen of Benton and Sondra Cocke of Benton; sisters-in-law, Shirley Roney of Mt. Vernon and Karen Griffith and husband Keith of Bonnie; brother-in-law, T.J. Howard and wife Marla of Bonnie; and nieces and nephews, Jamie Robinson, Jennifer Eubanks, Malori Newbury, Dristi Lamichhane, Kyle Lamichhane, Scott Roney, Bobby Hale, Paul Michael Hale, Crystal Frei, Cassie Moore, Tonya Shurtz Davey Bolen, Mandy Bolen, Ian Cocke, Dustin Cocke and Lindsey Cocke. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bluford Church of God with T.J. Howard and Tom Windland officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. For those who wish, memorials in Mr. Hale’s memory may be made to the Special Olympics.
