The couple were married July 30, 1949, in Mt. Vernon at Wesley United Methodist Church. Barbara is the daughter of Harmon and Mabel Farmer and is a business manager of Southern Illinois Clinic. Bill is the son of Louis and Vivian Palmer and is a switchman with the Illinois Central Railroad. They are the parents of two sons, Reif Palmer and wife Stacey and Brent Palmer and wife Stephanie.
