The Mt. Vernon Register-News, Monday, February 3, 1975 Wilburn Carlton Mt. Vernon Wilburn Everett Carlton, 71, of 1528 Perkins Ave., died at 11:55 a.m. yesterday at Good Samaritan hospital. He was employed as a riveter at the Mt. Vernon car shops for 30 years, before retiring. Funeral services will be held at l :30 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Tittle officiating. Burial will be in West Salem cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Carlton was born in Newport, Ark., on Nov. 25, 1903, the son of Neal and Martha (Shields) Carlton. On April 8, 1925, he married Sarah Chambliss, who survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Wilma Fairchild, Miss Rose Marie Carlton and Mrs. Reva Doris McMahon, all of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Marjorie Todd, Aurora; one son, Larry Lee Carlton, Mt. Vernon; three half-sisters, Mrs. Linnie Jones, Yuma, Ariz., Mrs. Mildred C. Lewis, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel Chapman, Pasadena, Tex.; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and one son.
