Southern Illinoisan July 14, 2014 PINKCNEYVILLE -- Patricia "Pat" June Connaway, 71, of Pinckneyville, formerly of Texico, died at 11:37 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, in Pinckneyville Community Hospital. She was born June 5, 1943, in Texico, the daughter of Berthyl B. and Edna M. (Minor) Austin. She attended Field Community School, Mount Vernon Township High School and Rend Lake College, as well as Vanderbilt Nursing School in Tennessee. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Fair Acres Nursing Home, Skilled Care in Pinckneyville and gave care at many other hospitals and nursing homes in the area. She was a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church in Pinckneyville. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Stonecipher and husband, Joseph of Georgia, Heather Head and husband, Melvin and Crystal Benbrook and husband, Jamie of Pinckneyville; 13 grandchildren, Stephanie Stonecipher, Kyle Stonecipher, Rian Stewart and husband, Matt, Joe Anna Connaway, Savannah Connaway, Jessica Connaway, Duston McCowen, Amber McCowen, Levi Jones, Andrew Benbrook, Nathaniel Benbrook, Sierra Benbrook and Talan Benbrook; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, R.C. Austin and wife, Effie Mae of Dix and Lavern Austin and wife, Betty of Mount Vernon; and one sister, Velma Ullery of Texico. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Harold Ray Connaway; three brothers, Bert, Waymon and Marvie Austin; one sister-in-law, Alice Austin; and one brother-in-law, Earl Ullery. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17 in the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Brother Mark Lee officiating. Burial will be in Panther Fork Cemetery.
