Bob I did the DNA test on 23andme (as well as ancestry.com) and 23andme says I am 100% European: Percentage 72.6 British and Irish 11. 1 French & German 3.1 Scandinavian 0.2 Finnish 12.5 Broadly Northern European 0.2 Eastern European 0.3 Broadly European As for haplogroup they state I am in "Unknown" They show an estimated 3.4% of my DNA is from Neanderthals. I am confused by how they do matching. Wish I could see the results similar to the way FamilyTreeDNA displays the results for the Y-DNA testing my brother, son and male cousins have done. H6 and H8 are among the oldest offshoots of haplogroup H, tracing back to present-day Turkey and Syria about 30,000 years ago. Subsequent migration carried the two branches eastward to the Altay Mountains of Central Asia, where both – especially H6 – are common among speakers of Altaic languages such as Kazakh, Altay and Mongolian. About 3,000 years ago a westward migration carried the H6a branch of H6 into Europe. It has been found at low levels – 4% or less – in Czechoslovakia, France, Ireland, and Sweden. > > 2.9% of your DNA is from Neanderthals. > > Should have the rest of the report in a couple of weeks. > > Bob Loman > Visit the Jefferson County web site at: > www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~iljeffer/ > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ILJEFFER-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
