The Mt. Vernon Register-News, Monday, April 24, 1967, Silas Brake Dies; Funeral Tuesday In Mt. Vernon Silas Edward Brake, 75, of 1521 Lamar, died at 1:10 a.m. yesterday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for 20 days. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Chapel with the Rev Floyd Stabler officiating. Friends may call at the Myers Chapel after 4:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery. Mr. Brake was born Feb. 15, 1892, in Hamilton county, the son of Marshall F. and Charity B. (Lewis) Brake. He was married at Mt. Vernon, Nov. 8. 1965, to Mabel Sipes who survives. Mr. Brake was a member of the Central Church of Christ and managed the Rogers Building for 41 years. Other survivors include; two brothers, Lewis and Earl Brake, both of Mt. Vernon; four sisters, Stacy Kern, Maude Eller and Candace Dougherty, all of Mt. Vernon, and Pearl Morris of Tucson, Ariz. One sister preceded him in death. He was first married to Sarah Thompson, who preceded him in death on October 12, 1962.
