Mt. Vernon Register-News, Mt. Vernon, IL Posted: Tuesday, September 2, 2014 Cora Maxine Henry, 94, of Bluford, passed away at 7:24 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014. Mrs. Henry was born at home in Jefferson County on Tuesday, July 27, 1920, a daughter of Charles Samuel Chambliss and Bertha Florence (King) Chambliss. Mrs. Henry's visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Harmony. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Harmony. Mrs. Henry is survived by her three daughters, Dorris Bass of Wayne City, Sharon Shaw and husband Larry of Wayne City and Alice Brookman and husband Dean of Bluford; three sons, Gary Henry and wife Phyllis of Mt. Vernon, Larry Henry of Dix and Dannie Henry and wife Tammie of Bluford; daughter-in-law, Linda Henry of Salem; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leuty Chambliss of Bluford and Charles "Junior" Chambliss and wife Mary of Wayne City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Chambliss; husband, Ross Earl Henry; two sons, Earl Henry and Sam Henry; one daughter, Iris Shell; four grandchildren, Junior Phelps, Mary Bass, Curtis Henry and Trevas Henry; two sons-in-law, Fletcher Bass and Jackie Shell; one daughter-in-law, Judy Henry; four sisters, Grace Martin, Reva Howard, Pet Fletcher and Geraldine Maxey; three brothers, Willis Chambliss, Calvin Chambliss and Estel Chambliss; and two infant brothers. Mrs. Henry was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Harmony. In addition to her love of God, she loved to quilt which was always a work of perfection.
