Mt. Vernon Register-News, Mt. Vernon, IL Posted: Tuesday, September 9, 2014 6:00 am Donald Ray Osborn, 66, of Bonnie, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, in Mt. Vernon. He was born March 7, 1948, in Herrin, to Francis and Lorene (Wells) Osborn. He is survived by his wife Joan (Weedon), son Brian and Beth of Cabot, Ark., and daughter Sue and Tom Gerdes of Minonk. Don has 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous other family in the area. He also has a sister, Joyce and Jay Basham of Washburn and brother Robert of Lowpoint. He was a member of Lowpoint United Methodist Church and UAW Local 974. He had worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria before retiring in 1996. Don and Joan moved from Washburn to Bonnie in 1997. Don will be remembered for his love of family and music, his helpful nature and sense of humor, and as an avid horseman. Visitation is planned from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.10 at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with Bro. Brad Ryan officiating. He will be laid to rest in Kirk Cemetery in Ina.
