    3. Mt. Vernon Register-News, Mt. Vernon, IL Posted: Wednesday, September 10, 2014 6:00 am Robert E. Goree, 82, of Texico, died 3 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at his home in Texico. He was born Thursday, Jan. 14, 1932, in Jefferson County, the son of Robert E. Goree, Sr. and Marjorie (Peddicord) Goree. He married Delores Hawkins on Jan. 15, 1958, in Mt. Vernon. Robert worked in real estate and was a carpenter and home builder. He is survived by wife, Delores Goree of Texico; three sons, Perri Vance Goree and wife Michelle of Mt. Vernon, Aaron Wade Goree and wife Yolanda of Nampa, Idaho and Rod Evan Goree and wife Cheryl of Texico; six grandchildren, Lea, Allison, Collin, Cameron, Conner and Amber Goree; great-grandchildren, Paxon and Dayton "Little Red"; sister, Joyce Henken of Naples, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews, including Ambre Hurley of Tennessee and Sabra Ramsey of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Goree, Sr. and Marjorie Goree Bond; one brother, Jesse; and one sister, Glenda. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn with the Rev. David Shores officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
