The Mt. Vernon Register-News, Saturday, October 13, 1962 Mrs. Silas Brake Dies At Age 73; Funeral Monday Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Brake of 1621 Lamar Avenue, died at 6:00 p. m. Friday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past two days. She was 73 years, one month and 27 days of age. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Peterson and the Rev. Herbert Wilson will officiate, and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Mrs. Brake was born August 15, 1889 in Jefferson county, the daughter of John and Anna (Hutton) Thompson. She was a Lifetime resident of Jefferson county. Mrs. Brake was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church and of the Royal Neighbors. In 1911 she was married, in Mt Vernon, Ind., to Silas E. Brake, who survives. Besides her husband, she is survived by three brothers, Walter Thompson of Pekin, Ill., Raymond Thompson of Peoria and Hutton Thompson of Pomona, Calf.
