Larry Benton Roberts, age 62, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 2:59 p.m. Wednesday, September 24th, 2014, at his home, of natural causes. He loved the outdoors, bow hunting, and fishing, and was a Nascar Fan and a blood donor. He worked for Black and Son Construction. A Graveside Funeral Service for Larry Roberts will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27th, at Paradise Cemetery in Salem, Illinois, with Ralph Swarthout officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, September 26th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Vernon; one sister, Betty Hogshead and husband Tommy of Mt. Vernon; Two aunts, Wilma Roberts of Iuka and Bonny Young of Plano; One uncle, Ralph Halfacre and wife Margie of Iuka; And several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry Roberts was born on February 11, 1952, in Harrisburg, Illinois, the son of Benton and Thelma (Halfacre) Roberts. He graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1970. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Bernice Adams.
