John Alvin Williams, 79 of Mt.Vernon Ilinois, went home to meet the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. John in all his life never met a stranger, and always made friends where ever he went. He was a well loved man and was always surrounded by people who loved him. John was a good man and will be very missed by those who loved him. He worked 54 years as a salesman for Dairy Brand and Meadow Gold Milk. He was also self-employed with R&W Mobile Homes and R&B Oxygen. John was first married to Shirley Stein and had three children Johnny L. Williams & friend Lina Parker, Kathy (Dennis) Knight and Randall M. Williams. John later married Barbara (McKendree) Williams and had two children Teresa J (Steven) Kirkpatrick and Bryon S (Judith) Williams. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Funeral Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 22, 2014 also at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois, with Rev. David Shores officiating. The burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn, Illinois. In addition to his wife Barbara of Mount Vernon and his five children, John is survived by two sisters Peggy Barger and Betty Brooks, one aunt Wilma Pearl Hutchinson, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friends Carolyn Young and Jim & Sandy Ellis. John was born on May 13th 1935 in Carmi, Illinois to Randall and Nettie (Darnell) Williams. John was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Richard Porter, George (Sammy) Aldridge, and Randall Williams Jr., along with his son Randall M. Williams.
