Vernon, Illinois. Mary Ellen was born on Saturday, September 27, 1924 in Belle Rive, Illinois the daughter of the late Albert and Lillie (Cremeens) Davenport. She married Walter Harvey Petersen on March 28, 1946 in Morganfield, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1970. Surviving family members include her 2 sons: Bill Petersen of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Dean Petersen and wife Deena of Woodlawn, Illinois; daughter-in-law: Connie Petersen of Mt. Vernon, Illinois: 4 grandchildren: Mike Petersen and wife Wendy of Woodlawn, Illinois, Jan Petersen and wife Kara of Woodlawn, Illinois, Jason Petersen of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Adam Petersen of Woodlawn, Illinois; 5 great grandchildren: Brendan, Morgahn, Savanna, Alan and Ryan Ann Petersen all of Woodlawn, Illinois; 2 brothers: Howard Davenport and wife Eva of DeKalb, Illinois and Jim Davenport of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, husband, son: Walter Ray Petersen, one grandson: Alan Petersen, two brothers: Harold Davenport and Charles Davenport and two sisters: Annabel McClure and Doris Boyer preceded her in death. Mary worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Earl Neal and was of the Baptist faith.
