Mt. Vernon Register-News, Mt. Vernon, IL Posted: Wednesday, September 10, 2014 6:00 am Helen Schorfheide, 85, of Nashville and formerly of Woodlawn, died 11:05 a.m. Monday, Sept, 8, 2014. She was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Woodlawn, the daughter of Herbert and Leona (Brenton) Payne. She later married Lester Schorfheide and he preceded her in death. She retired from Hollywood Candy, where she worked for many years. She is survived by one son, Marvin Flanagan of Nashville; and two sisters, Virginia Budny of Chicago and Kay Elliott of Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Joe Payne and Hurley Payne; and one sister, Marge Gant. Funeral services for Mrs. Schorfheide will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
