The Mt Vernon Register-News, Thursday, July 15, 1976 Kermit Ayers Mt. Vernon Kermit "Mutt" Ayers, 68, of 1400 S. 13th St., died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was an automobile mechanic. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Myers-Baril Chapel, with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 6 p.m. today. Mr. Ayers was born Dec. 31, 1907, at Mt. Vernon, the son of John M. and Jennie (Lennington) Ayers. He was married Sept. 6, 1936 at Princeton, Ind., to Lena Gunter. She survives. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post No. 141. Besides his widow, he is survived by a sister. Mrs. Helen Gaunt of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Taylor Ayers of Mt. Vernon; and an aunt, Gussie Wilhelm of Benton.
