The Mt. Vernon Register-News, Monday, December 9, 1968 Joseph Bailey, 73, Dies Sunday In Mt. Vernon Joseph Cecil Bailey, 73, Benton Road. Mt. Vernon, died at 7.40 p.m. Sunday in the Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Bailey will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of God with the Rev. Ross Partridge and the Rev. Herbert Noble officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Bailey was born June 3, 1895, the son of Edward and Lydia Morlan Bailey. He was married to Edith Lavoll (sic.) on April 27, 1914. He was a member of the First Church of God in Mt. Vernon and was a retired real estate broker. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Cecil of Marietta, Ga., and Harold and Bill of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Raymond of Caifornia; one half brother, Virgil of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Mrs. Ella Jenkins of Oregon; three half sisters, Mrs. Flossie Silverly of Terre Haute, Ind., Mrs. Velma McCaslin of Mt. Vernon; and Mrs. Vernedean Mc Donald of Indianapolis, Ind.; seven grandchildren; one step grandson and three great step children. (sic.)
