The Mt Vernon Register-News, Thursday, May 23, 1963 Mary Jannie Murphy Dies; Rites Sunday Mrs. Mary Jannie Murphy of RFD 3, Mt. Vernon, died at 7:30 a.m. today at the Hearthside Nursing Home. She was 89 years, eight months, and 16 days old. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Myers Chapel with the Rev. Marsh Harpole and the Rev. Ray Jewel officiating. Burial will be in West Salem cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 4:00 p. m. Saturday. She was born Sept. 7, 1873, in Jefferson county, the daughter of William and Frances Grant She was married to Frank Murphy, who preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1933. Survivors Include two sons, Bennie and Recil G. Murphy; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Jane Campbell and Mrs. Pauline Douglas" two brothers, Obe and Joe Grant, all of Mt Vernon; 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
