Vernon Register-News, Monday, May 6, 1968 Charles Ilbery Dies At Age 62 Funeral Tuesday Charles Frederick Ilbery, RFD 3, a retired pasterer, (sic) died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 62 years, five months, and 16 days. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pulley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Totter officiating. Burial will be in West Salem cemetery. The body will lie in state at Pulley Funeral Home where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday. Mr. Ilbery was bom on Aug. 18. 1905, in St Louis, Mo., the son of Frederick and Mary Ellen (Neeley) Ilbery. His father was bom in England. On Feb. 12, 1926, in Springfield, Ill., he married Sarah Marbain who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Charles F. Ilbery, Jr. of Ina, Harry W. Ilbery and John R. Ilbery both of RFD 3, and Earl D. Ilbery of 801 south 23rd street; five daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Sexton, Mrs. Arleen M. Plemons, and Mrs. Clara Betty Plemons, all of Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Edith F. Carey and Mrs. Lenora J. Clark, both of Mt. Vernon; two half-brothers, Harry Hirst and John Hirst, both of St Louis, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Edith Cook of St. Louis, Mo.; two half- sisters, Mrs. Matilda Brown and Mrs. Mary Goeble, both of St. Louis, Mo.; 30 grandchildren; and one great grand child. He was preceded in death by a daughter; two grandsons, a brother, a half-brother, a half, sister and his parents. Mr. Ilbery attended Lincoln school in St Louis, Mo., and was a member of West Side Baptist church.
