    3. The Mt. Vernon Register-News, Wednesday, July 31, 1974 Edith M. Bailey Mt. Vernon Mrs. Edith M. Bailey, 75, of the Benton Road, died at 12:10 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was a retired employee of the shoe factory in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Church of God, with the Rev. Howard Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call at Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday, when the body will be moved to the church to lie in state from noon until the funeral hour. Mrs. Bailey was born in Mt. Vernon on April 7, 1899, the daughter of William Jasper and Lucretia (Dirden) Levall. She was married to Joseph Cecil Bailey, who died Dec. 8. 1968. She was a member of the First Church of God in Mt. Vernon. Survivors include three sons, Bill J. and Harold J., both of Mt. Vernon, and Cecil E., of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Phillips, of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, nine sisters and one brother.
