Vernon Register-News, Monday, July 27, 1953 Oscar Ward Dies At Age 67 Years; Rites Wednesday Oscar Ward died at 4.40 a. m. today at his home, 1205 south 27th street. He was 67 years, ten months and six days of age. Mr. Ward, a teamster, had been employed at the Midwest Seed Company for the past 16 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p. m. at Myers Chapel. The Rev. G. N. Mitchell will officiate and burial will be in West Salem cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 11 a. m. Tuesday. Mr. Ward was born September 21, 1885 in Orchardville, Ill., the son of Alfred and Hester (Colvin) (sic) Ward. He has been a resident of Mt. Vernon for the past 60 years. He was married to Nannie Crowder, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Fred of Mt. Vernon, Charles of Phoenix, Arizona and Earl of Wyoming; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane O'Daniell and Mrs. Myrtle Loss of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Louise Nowland of Waltonville and Mrs. Doris Jean Enlow of East St. Louis; one sister, Mrs. Ella Cash of Mt. Vernon; and 12 grandchildren.
