Sharon Ann Jones, age 69, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, formerly of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 6:03 A.M. on Monday, September 29th, 2014, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mrs. Jones owed and operated a flea market and produce center in Ashley and Centralia, Illinois until her illness. She previously was a manager with the 4 J's Cafe in Centralia, Illinois and earlier owned the Yellow Cab Company in Salem, Illinois with her husband. She has lived in Mount Vernon, Illinois for the last 3 years and formerly lived in the Centralia area for most of her life. Mrs. Jones was a sports enthusiasts who watched football and baseball and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. She liked to watch television shows and read book that featured murder mysteries. She enjoyed playing cards especially with her grandson. Mrs. Jones was a very caring person who was there to help others. She listened to country and early rock & roll music that included Elvis Presley. She loved her cats and dogs. She cherished the time she spent with her family especially her children and grandchildren. Funeral Services for Sharon Ann Jones will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 3, 2014, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Brother Carlton Binkley officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Jones' memory to the Centralia Humane Society and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois. Mrs. Jones was survived by her 4 daughters, including Melinda “Mindy” Wetzel Thompson and husband Bob of Nashville, Illinois and Georgia Fletcher and husband Gene of Ina, Illinois, 10 grandchildren including Cheryl Renschen and husband James, Austin Wetzel, Amber Lemons and husband Matt, Amy Hines and husband Derrick and Darren Fletcher, Tonya Wetzel and Thomas “Tommy” Wetzel; 13 great grandchildren Ziva, Ruby, Ryan, Olivia, Halie, Lukas, Cortney, Sadie, Hunter, Keondre, Darien, Treyson and Joyse; 2 great great grandchildren Darien, Jr. and Amelia, sisters Glenda Logan of Xenia, Illinois and Bonnie Ashlock and fiance' John Taylor of Centralia, Illinois, uncle Ray Wood and wife Pauline of Granite City, Illinois and aunt Thelma Hays of Centralia, Illinois. Sharon Ann Jones was born October 26, 1944 in Waukegan, Illinois, the daughter of William “Buck” Bateman and Violet Paulina (Wood) Strickler. She married George William Jones and he preceded her in death in 1976. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Elijah Steven Wood and Mary Alice Wood, parents, stepfather Charles E. Strickler, infant son Elijah Steven Eric Jones, granddaughter Stephanie Wetzel, brother Garnet Alfred “Rocky” Sumner, sisters Mary Elizabeth and Pamela Billings and aunt Janice Wood.
