Mrs. Helen (Liszewski) Sherman, age 84, of Du Bois, passed away at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at 4:44 p.m. Mrs. Sherman was born on April 18, 1926, in Sheridan, Ark., the daughter of Dave and Frances (Skorczewski) Liszewski. She was united in marriage to Clarence Sherman on June 25, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo. and to this union three children were born. She was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in DuBois, where she served as Eucharistic Minister. Helen was also a member of St. Theresa Altar Sodality and the Catholic Daughters of America. In addition to spending time with her family, kids and grandkids, she enjoyed playing bingo and trips to various casinos with her friends. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Sherman of DuBois; two sons, Ralph Sherman and wife Debbie of St. Louis, Mo. and Michael Sherman of Canton, Ohio; a son-in-law, Tim Ferguson of Centralia; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relations and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathy Ferguson; and two sisters, Bertha Kozuszek and Barbara Lesko. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in DuBois on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church today from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The rosary will be recited at the church Monday at 8 p.m. Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorial contributions can be made to the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and will be accepted by Campagna Funeral Home.
