Carolyn Sue Sharp, 70, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 7:02 P.M. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at her daughter's home in Schaumburg, Illinois. Mrs. Sharp was born on Sunday, October 27, 1940 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the daughter of the late Irene House. She married Lloyd "Leon" Sharp on September 11, 1960 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2009. Surviving family members include her daughter: Carole Sue Sharp of Schaumburg, Illinois; uncle: Gene House of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; cousins: Sharon Karch and husband Paul of Centralia, Illinois, Brenda McGarvey and husband Kevin of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Jeanne Samson of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Gloria Tincher and husband Gene of Marion, Illinois, Jackie Payne and husband Richard of Keenes, Illinois, Barbie Merchel and husband J.R. of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Ronnie House and wife Linda of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Irene Donoho of Texico, Illinois, Fonda Braddock of Wayne City, Illinois and Barbara Gene House of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Her husband, parents and grandparents preceded her in death. Carolyn was of the Protestant faith, owned and operated The Blossom Shop in Mt. Vernon, as well as assisting her husband with Sharps Grocery Store. She also worked as a secretary for the offices of Sears and Trunkline Gas Company in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Merle Fullerton and Reverend Melvin Larson will officiate. INTERMENT: Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois.
