Terry Lee Aydt, 55, of Gillespie, passed away at 3:16 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. He was born Dec. 26, 1954, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Leonard Albert and Lorene Clare (Karcher) Aydt. He married Brenda Lee (Cox) Aydt on Oct. 30, 1976, in Litchfield, and she survives. Private funeral services will be held. Burial will be at Gillespie City Cemetery. Terry was a retired coal miner from Monterey Coal and had worked as an operator for Olin Corp., Winchester Division. He was a member of the United Mine Workers and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Aydt is survived by his wife; his mother; two sons, Brent Aydt and wife Paula of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and Matt Aydt of Gillespie; a daughter, Chrissy Merritt and husband Shane of Gloucester, Mass.; three sisters, Brenda McPherson and husband Russ of Mt. Vernon, Janice Guymon of Phoenix, Ariz. and Teresa Phelps of Opdyke; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, Ella, Ashley, Katie and Michael Aydt; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law Ollie Cox and wife Rose of West Frankfort; mother-in-law Mary Michel of Gillespie; brother-in-law Ollie Cox Jr. of McCalla, Ala.; sister-in-law Patricia Montoro of Petersburg; and brother-in-law, Allen Amos of Wilsonville.
