June Smith, 65, of Texico, Illinois passed away at 10:50 P.M. on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. June was born on Thursday, March 22, 1945 in Jefferson County, Illinois the daughter of the late Raymond and Noma (Hand) Pigg. She married Donald Cleo Smith on August 5, 1986 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2001. Surviving family members include her sisters: Sally Starr and husband Wayne of Texico, Illinois and Charlotte Pigg of Texico, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, husband, two sisters: Betty Miller and Corbelle Palmer, four brothers: Gary Lee Pigg, Donald Pigg, Tommy Pigg and James Powell and four stepbrothers preceded her in death. June was a homemaker and worked part time at Fina Gas Station; she was a member of Mt. Vernon Eagles Aerie Lodge #2791 and was of the Baptist faith VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Smith-Veterans Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois. Reverend Chuck Ellis will officiate. INTERMENT: Smith-Veterans Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
