VERNON - Harold D. Patterson, 72, of Dix, died at 11:03 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born on Tuesday, March 1, 1938, in Beecher City, the son of Gerald and Vera (Sproat) Patterson. He married Marilyn A. Hamilton on Sept. 20, 1959, in Vandalia; and she survives in Dix. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Allen Patterson and wife Melissa of Woodlawn; three grandchildren, Matt, Marc and Morgan Patterson all of Woodlawn; a sister, Carol Walters and husband David of Lake Placid, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Harold was an insurance adjuster for 25 years and delivered flowers for Lena's Flowers and Things in Mt. Vernon during his retirement. He was also a member of the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge 819. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with James McKenzie officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
